My Winter Wonderland Day

*authors note: I wrote this post about a month ago and never posted it, but I put in a lot of effort to edit and watermark these photos. Plus this was a really nice day, so I’d like to share it with you anyway.*

I think I say it every 5 minutes, but winter is my favorite season.

Every year I pretty much just count down to winter and then when winter is over I get super sad.

About a week ago, I had a really nice winter day.

I wanted to share my photos and some commentary with you!

We woke up pretty early in the morning because my mom had a doctors appointment about an hour from our house at 8-ish. So we left the house at about 6 and took a nice drive.

IMG_6031
The drive was pretty uneventful, but I was intrigued by this truck.

I just sat in the lobby at the doctors office while my mom got checked out, so I took a selfie with the tree. They were playing a lot of christmas music I’ve never heard before. Did you know Kelly Clarkson has a christmas album? Maybe I’m the weird one for not knowing that.

My bangs look greasy but I swear they’re just wet.

After visiting the doctors office, we had a few hours to waste until a dentist appointment, so we went to one of our favorite places: Central Market.

This succulent wreath was like $65.
exif_temp_image-15
This wasn’t $65

Ā I love the fact that I’m only a little over an hour from a concrete artichoke when I’m in my home. It’s comforting.

Less comforting concrete produce.

I have an odd obsession with photos that are edge to edge.

There was a photo area set up outside the store, so being the camwhore I am, I had to take pictures.

IMG_6036exif_temp_image-17

After spending some time (and about $14) in central market, we went to have an early lunch. I was so excited because we were right near my favorite restaurant, but they were closed :(((((

So we went to a pizza place that, much to my joy, offered vegan cheese.

I didn’t take a picture of my food because I generally don’t photograph my food, but I DID get a picture of the cool sink in the restroom.

The dryer is the big flat grey bit. It was super cool in the moment, I swear.

After eating, we went to the dentist. It was pretty uneventful, but they had the food network on so I got to watch The Pioneer Woman.

Sorry for the ugly picture, Ree Drummond.

After that was the main event of the day… ICE SCULPTURES!!!!!!

I have a very intense love of ice sculptures and I’d been hoping to see these for like 2 months, so enthusiasm ahead.

We took a pretty long drive up to the Gaylord Texan,

IMG_6146
I thought the giant blue parkas they gave us were actually really cute… I think I was alone on that one.

IMG_6156
I didn’t get a good picture of the snowman, this is all I got.

People are animals, they broke his hand off šŸ˜¦

IMG_6184
In the gift shop, they were selling little notebooks with characters on them, but all they had left was him. All the Rudolphs and snowmen and other characters were all sold. I kinda felt bad for him.
IMG_6185
Painfully cute. I bought a stuffed polka-dotted elephant, don’t tell anyone.

IMG_6187

IMG_6186
This was in the room with the giant ice slide. I felt like a giant dork sliding down the ice slide with all the toddlers. The staff glared at me :/
IMG_6164
The reindeer look like Pingu from the front. noot noot.

IMG_6166IMG_6165

And much to my surprise, my favorite sculptures actually came at the end.

In the nativity scene.

IMG_6192
I love him. I want to take him home with me šŸ˜¦

IMG_6191

IMG_6193
The ice was upsettingly clear. It was kinda breathtaking

Not much else to say, but I was amused by how huge the Gaylord Texan is (I’ve never been there before). They have their own FedEx!

IMG_6194

After this we kinda just went home.

Well thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

*P.S. I’m sorry I haven’t blogged in a while, I’ve actually been trying to but wordpress has been giving me an error message every time I try to post, schedule, or save ANYTHING. I’m mad about it. Love you guys though.*

October 5th, 2018

Today’s a big day!

I’ll get to things as they happen but here’s a synopsis of October 5th.

I woke up at around 9:00. I had actually woken up for about an hour at 6:00 but I ended up falling back asleep much to my chagrin.

I woke up and went to the living room with my laptop where I edited my final draft of an article I sent to be put up on another website (I’ll link it when it’s published). I sent it to the owner of the website and then I got an email…

My first article in a magazine was published today!

I have a piece inĀ Seedling MagazineĀ !

YAY!

I got my payment for the article a few days ago but it didn’t feel real until I saw it!

Please go download and read the magazine!

Here’s another link if you didn’t notice the earlier one:Ā  Ā Ā https://littlegreenseedling.com/magazine/

I’m hoping this article will drive a little more traffic to my site and hopefully kickstart my writing “career”.

I then went over to my photo area because I’ve been asked by the nice people atĀ BiscuitsXMonstersĀ asked me to take some product pictures for them! My pictures should be on the website soon! (if you wanna buy something from them my discount code is: dearmikah)

Here’s one of the pictures I took:

img_4058

So after my super eventful few hours, we got mail. I didn’t get what I was hoping would arrive today. šŸ˜¦ I thought my 2nd milkgirl sweater would arrive but it still hasn’t. That’s fine though, I’m willing to wait.

I also applied for a gas card today. I tried to apply for a credit card a while ago and I got rejected because I don’t have a credit score yet since I’ve never had a credit card. Does that sound dumb to you too? I’m hoping I’ll get accepted for this.

I’m hoping to get in a good Japanese study session today. So to do that I’m gonna have to stop writing this post soon.

I have a video uploading on youtube right now so if you don’t keep up with my youtube channel… new video!

It’s a mukbang.

Well I guess I’ll go now.

Bye for now!

My Day

Today has been a little productive and very photography oriented.

I woke up at about 6:45 so I could take out the trash. Today the trash men came at 8:00. I wish they were more consistent with the time they come to get the trash because sometimes they arrive at 11:00, sometimes 14:00, sometimes 7:30. But I don’t want to be too critical because I’m thankful that they remove the garbage from my life.

I then went to sit and wait for an idea to come to mind when my mom asked me to edit a photo of her dog Posh. The edit turned out looking cheesy, so I offered her to take some pictures of Posh and Samoa in front of my photography backdrop.

This would lead to the one and only piece of drama in my day.

After eating breakfast, I got to setting up my photography rig and got the dog to the room where my stuff was. Posh mush be afraid of the white fabric because she refused to stand up. She laid down, she sat, she ran off of the backdrop. Samoa also wouldn’t stand (do they hate white?) but he was less stiff. After about 35 minutes of wrestling 2 french bulldogs, I ended up with these photos.

After that, I figured since I already was taking pictures, I might as well take some pictures of myself.

If you haven’t seen my most recent youtube video, you may not know that I’ve finally made a rig to take pictures of myself with my shutter button so as to get wider self shots.

I got a lot of good pictures which is pretty rare. Normally I’ll take about 400 shots and end up with about 4 good ones. Today I took 200 and ended up with 30 good pictures!

I’m not gonna post all 30 but here’s a good amount of them! (they’re big so just scroll hard if you don’t wanna look at me)

shutter button + timer = cheesy pose central!

so cheesy!

I look like I expect something. (it’s attention)
img_2351
I just wanna show you my shoes honestly. They’re tough to put on so if I wear them, people need to see them. But you can see my general outfit as well.

img_2356img_2357

img_2359
i try to pose with props so my pictures aren’t so boring but it normally looks unnatural. This one doesn’t though! (don’t tell me it looks unnatural please, thanks)

I accidentally pressed the button while checking the focus
img_2365
Did you think I was done with my cheesy poses?

img_2371

img_2367
See? Unnatural.
img_2368
I think this is the best showcase of my face from today.

After my photo frenzy, I studied Swahili for about an hour because I’ve been neglecting that language for a bit too long.

Since studying, I edited my photos and did a load of laundry.

I really need to write in my language log today. I haven’t written in it for like 10 days! Terrible!

I think tomorrow I’m gonna try to get some great pictures of Peanut, Poptart, and Maddie. They’re a lot better at posing than Samoa and Posh.

Thanks for reading!

A Day in the Life: September 11th, 2018

I woke up at about 7:30 to the sound of the dogs barking.

I felt hazy and ended up sitting in bed petting Peanut, Poptart and Maddie until about 8:45 when I finally got up to pee and say hi to my mom. I sat in bed with my mom for about 30 minutes and pet Posh and Samoa as Mulan played in the background and my mom crocheted.

Sometime around 9:30 I moved the cacophony of items that I carry around the house with me to the living room where I listened to a podcast and ate my breakfast. I had oatmeal with peanut butter. Around here is when my feet start to feel cold.

img_1442

I then decided that I want to have marinated tofu as a part of my dinner so knowing that the tofu tastes best if it’s marinated all day, I went to the kitchen and mixed up the marinade and cut my tofu into cubes. I then put the tofu in the marinade and then the fridge to sit while the rest of my day unfolds.

I eventually felt paralysed by lack of productivity so I moved my belongings from the coffee table to my desk at about 11:00. Once my items were set down I began to prepare to study.

My pre-study routine consists of drinking some water and stretching for about 15 minutes.

I then sat down to study.

Once I sat down and crossed my legs I noticed that the soles of my feet were purple from being cold.

img_1445
Can you even tell that they’re purple in this photo?

I studied Korean for about 2 hours and then Japanese for 35 minutes.

img_1443

After studying for a while, I had “lunch”.

I don’t wanna tell you what I ate.

I also posted a photo on my instagram which was impossible to think of a caption for so I just captioned it *insert caption here*. I’m trying to post more on instagram because I like curating contentĀ and attention so I try to post even if I feel like I have nothing to put up.

I then sat down again and studied Russian for about 30 minutes.

Pretty swiftly after I wrapped up my Russian study session my mom asked me to make her a cup of coffee so I did and I checked the mail. We got ads.

I went on twitter for about 10 minutes and read Ari Fleischers timeline of 9/11. It’s really interesting to see what happened for the people on Air Force One, so I recommend you look him up and read his tweets from today. I also read some of the happy birthday tweets for RM from BTS. I’ll wish him a happy birthday tomorrow when the date matches up.

At this point I feel aimless so I decide to see if there’s anything new on youtube and it turns out Lindsey Ellis posted a video! I love her video essays so that got me excited so I dropped everything to watch it while doing some of my planning for tomorrow.

img_1447

Once the video drew to a close I decidedĀ  should write my blog post for today.

Here we are…

It’s not even 17:00 yet so I still have more of a day ahead.

I think I’m gonna do a load of laundry tonight.

My day was ok and I hope you had an ok day as well.

Day in the Life: September 7th, 2018

I bet you thought I might not post today.

Of course I will! I’m not a loser, I keep my promises (for the most part).

Today I’m just gonna tell you what happened in my day, ok?

I woke up 30 minutes after my alarm went off because for once in my life I snoozed. I never tend to hit snooze, I normally will just give up and decide to sleep till whenever if I don’t wanna wake up with my alarm. But today was an exception to my rule and I hit snooze 3 times.

I woke up late and then I decided to laze around in the living room for a while until it became time to go to work.

I ate some oatmeal with peanut butter for breakfast and then I got ready for work.

I got ready and my eye makeup turned out really bright. Normally warm toned eyeshadows disappear into my skin but I got a new eyeshadow palette and it turned outĀ red. I like how it looks though, it just surprised me.

It worked out though because my eyeshadow turned out the same color as the embroidery on my shirt. I wore a white shirt with red and orange embroidered flowers and a pair of white jeans with my brown thigh high boots. Remember that i wore white jeans.

Once I got to work I was immediately put onto the sales floor while the assistant manager was putting security tags onto the new arrivals in the back store room. I helped a lot of customers today, and I’m pretty sure I exceeded my ales goals so that’s cool.

I took my break at about 2:00pm and when I went to the restroom I made a wonderful discovery.

I started my period.

The worst thing about my birth control implant is that I get surprise spotting whenever y body decides rather than a predictable menstrual cycle.

So since I switched out my bag in the morning, of course I didn’t have any pads on my person so i wrapped my panties in toilet paper and finished my break then went back to work.

The rest of my day at work was pretty uneventful, and I went home after.

I still don’t feel wonderful because my antibiotics still make my stomach hurt and I’m pretty drained from my recovering from illness.

My mom and I went to the bank to deposit some money as well, pretty average time with that.

Now, I just ate dinner and I think I’m gonna go to sleep early in hopes that I’ll have a decent amount of energy tomorrow for my long shift.

Oh, you know what else?

I just got a flash flood warning on my phone so that’s cool.

Hopefully no damage will be brought onto my area.

You ever feel like life is looking up and then things come crashing back down?

I’ve had an eventful 2 days. I feel like a piece of garbage for not posting but there’s nothing I can do now, is there?

So yesterday, our air conditioner was acting up as usual so we did what we always do: turn off the cooling function and turn on the fans. After about 5 minutes of the fans being on, my mom smelled an electrical burning scent and next thing you know there were 4 firetrucks outside of our house.

Don’t worry (I know you wouldn’t worry anyway but bear with me), there wasn’t a real fire there just almost was one. The fan was burning out and luckily the a/c was turned off at the breaker before an actual fire could start.

So our air conditioner is absolutely ruined.

We waited for about 8 hours in the heat for the repair men to come and bring us some temporary window units, but they never came. My mom eventually got fed up and we ended up packing everyone up and transporting the animals and ourselves to a motel for the night. I slept for roughly 3 hours because the animals kept getting loud and scratching at their crates, keeping my mom and I up.

Now we’re back at home and my moms friends brought us some window a/c units. It’s still hot in the house but it’s getting better.

You ever notice how things like this never happen when you’re at an ok place in life? It’s always when everything you care about is down the drain.

ugh I wanna be angry and negative so bad but it seems like every time I express the full range of human emotion people get mad at me.

I really should’ve made this blog anonymous.

Day in the Life: a day at the ER

Well…

today’s been eventful.

If you don’t follow me on instagram (@dearmikah) you may not have seen me post on my story that I was in the ER for a substantial amount of time today.

Don’t worry I’m not dying or anything but I do have pneumonia.

I thought today would be a good day for a day in the life post because I’ve had a pretty interesting time.

I should probably begin my discussion of my illness by mentioning that I started having pain in my sternum yesterday afternoon.

So, this morning I started my day with night sweats at 2:40. I just dealt with it.

When I finally woke up officially (I had a few moments of lucidity throughout the night) at about 8:20, I was doused in sweat and feeling god awful. My first instinct was to take my temperature with the thermometer I keep next to my bed.

My temperature was 101.

So I went to my mom and she immediately said “let’s go to carenow”. And so we went.

We arrived there at about 8:45 and I spent a few hours there where we did an xray, an ekg, and a few blood tests. My xray and ekg were normal so that was nice. When my blood tests came back, my white blood cell count was 20,000.

THAT’S SUPER HIGH.

So the doctor at care now ordered for me to be taken to the ER. This was around 10:45.

I was triaged and all of the sudden I heard some scary words applied to me: sepsis alert.

great. I’m septic.

I was rushed over to an ER room where immediately (after peeing in a cup) there were about 6 people in the room poking me with needles and sticking stuff to me. By the time I had everything attached to me I had about 9 cords and tubes stuck to my body.

They took a ton of blood to do all sorts of tests with. They apparently take blood in bottles sometimes and it made me think of true blood. I hope some vampire somewhere had a nice beverage.

img_1202
taken while sitting in the room

My mom and I then waited for a while while I received an IV drip of saline and antibiotics. After a few hours I was visited by the doctor again and guess what? atypical pneumonia.

So I was given more fluids before waiting for information about what my treatment will be.

Around then it was about 13:00 and I was super hungry. I didn’t eat breakfast before going to carenow because I thought we’d be out of there around 10:00 so I was dropping in blood sugar and I was just uncomfortable in general.

I should probably mention that my pain was about a 7 out of 10 right about now.

So I asked for pain meds and asked if I could eat. I got my drugs and had 3/4 of a cookie.

After a little longer, I got news that I would be discharged (15:00) and I get to take antibiotics at home!

We went to the pharmacy and got some real food and once at home I took a short nap…

Right now I’ve taken more pain meds and I’m in bed and honestly I don’t think I can eat anything or really even do anything for the rest of the night. I’m drained.

I’ll add in an edit if anything else happens.
